Japanese Sake meets Italian Flavours in Delhi

Konnichiwa! 🌸 An Afternoon of Sake & Italian Culinary Delights

I’m Malvika Sankpal, Coordinator, Sake Mom India, and it was my absolute joy to host a truly memorable afternoon at Toscano, Saket Mall, Delhi, where the elegance of Japanese sake met the richness of Italian cuisine in a perfect culinary celebration.

The event was a full house, and every guest savored a thoughtfully curated tasting experience, guided by Ms. Mika Eoka, Master of Sake. Six premium sake expressions were paired with dishes that delighted the senses and showcased how sake can elevate any cuisine.

Here’s a taste of the menu:

  • Antipasti:
    • Veg – Avocado Crostini: buttery avocado mashed over crisp bread, bursting with freshness
    • Non-Veg – Garlic Prawns: succulent prawns sizzling in garlic and olive oil, paired with Princess Marriage – Ikus Shiro Sake
  • Insalata:
    • Veg – Insalata di Burrata: creamy burrata melting over fresh greens, drizzled with olive oil
    • Non-Veg – Insalata di Burrata Parma Ham: indulgent burrata wrapped in delicate Parma ham, paired with Masumi Junmai Daiginjo Sanka Sake
  • Primo Piatto:
    • Veg – Penne alla Romano: perfectly al dente penne in a rich, cheesy sauce
    • Non-Veg – Ravioli di Pollo e Salsa Rosa: tender chicken-filled ravioli in a silky pink sauce, paired with Hakushika Tokubetsu Yamadanisiki Honjozo Sake
  • Secondo Piatto:
    • Veg – Eggplant Parmigiana: layers of roasted eggplant, gooey cheese, and tangy tomato sauce
    • Non-Veg – Chicken di Toscano: juicy, flavorful chicken baked to perfection, paired with Masumi Junmai Kaya Sake
  • Dolce:
    • Alphonso Mango Chia Seed Panna Cotta: creamy, dreamy panna cotta infused with the sweetness of Alphonso mango and topped with delicate chia seeds, paired with Hakutsuru Asayuki Sparkling Sake

We were deeply honored to have H.E. Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Ono Kechii, along with Mr. Sumiyoshi Kazuki (Embassy of Japan), Mr. Toshiaki Sato & Mr. Takanori Higuchi (JETRO), and representatives from the National Tax Agency of Japan grace the event. It was equally delightful to share this afternoon with our media and culinary friends β€” Yuta Koen (NNA), Sanjeev K. Ahuja (Asian News Channel), Mukul Manku (The Wine Club & Wineglitz India), Nalin Gupta (The Social Network), H.I.S. Travel India Pvt Ltd β€” as well as friends from the Japanese restaurant and hospitality community.

A heartfelt thank you to Toscano Delhi, Saket Mall, for providing such a warm and welcoming setting. This afternoon was more than just a tasting β€” it was a celebration of flavors, cultures connecting, friendships growing, and memories being made over exquisite food and sake.

Arigatou gozaimashita! πŸ™
